Noah Phillips Mrs. Foust 12 Honors English 5 December 2016 Climate Change Climate change is defined by Dictionary.com as â€Å"A long-term change in the earth’s climate, especially a change due to an increase in the average atmospheric temperature† (â€Å"The Definition of Climate Change†). Climate change can be separated into four categories which are: evidences, causes, effects, and solutions. These categories help to find out what climate change is and how we can stop it. There are many questions that arise when talking about climate change, and one of those questions is what are some evidences of climate change? There are nine major evidences of climate change and they are: seal level rise, global temperature rise, warming oceans, shrinking ice sheets, declining Arctic sea ice, glacial retreat, extreme events, ocean acidification, and decreased snow cover. These evidences occur all around the world and are very noticeable by anyone who comes in contact with them (â€Å"Climate Change†). Sea levels have been ri sing over the past century, but the most significant change has happened over the past decade. The rise of sea levels is caused by two main factors: melting land ice and the expansion of sea water. Throughout this century the rate of global sea levels rising has been about 6.7 inches, but the rate has doubled over the past decade.
